What are the taxes that GST replaced in India?

Following tax will removed after GST implementation:

  1. Central Excise Duty (CENVAT)
  2. Additional Excise Duties The Excise Duty levied under the Medicinal and Toiletries Preparations (Excise Duties) Act 1955
  3. Service Tax
  4. Additional Customs Duty, commonly known as Countervailing Duty (CVD)
  5. Special Additional Duty of Customs – 4% (SAD)
  6. Surcharges and Cesses levied by Centre
  7. Central Sales Tax
  8. VAT / Sales tax
  9. Entertainment tax (unless it is levied by the local bodies)
  10. Luxury tax
  11. Taxes on lottery, betting and gambling
  12. State Cesses and Surcharges in so far as they relate to supply of goods and services
  13. Octroi and Entry Tax
  14. Purchase Tax
